 Definition of Network

The network is a collection of groups of computers that linked with each other and help to share information from one system to another system.  

Types of Network

There are the following types of Networks which are explained below with suitable examples

A. LAN ( local area network)

LAN stands for local area network which connects to computers with each other into a small area. This network enables to transfer of data or information very high due to the installation of a computer in a small area. This system required less cost for their installation. for examples of local area network are - 

B. PAN ( personal area network )

PAN stands for personal area network which connects to the computer with each other in 10 meters range. It is applicable for only to individual users for personal uses. This network cover only 30meter ranges. 

Personal Area Network are of the work types given below:

i.  Wired Personal Area Network

Wireless Personal Area Network is developed by simply using wireless technologies such as WiFi, Bluetooth. It is a low-range network.

ii. Wireless Personal Area Network

Wired Personal Area Network is created by using the USB.

 C. MAN ( Metropolitan Area Network )

MAN stands for Metropolitan Area Network that covers a larger geographic area by interconnecting a different LAN to form a larger network. In MAN, various LANs are connected to each other through a telephone exchange line. It has a higher range than Local Area Network(LAN).

D. WAN ( Wide Area Network )

WAN stands for Wide Area Network that extends over a large geographical area such as states or countries. A Wide Area Network is quite a bigger network than a LAN. A Wide Area Network is not limited to a single location, but it spans over a large geographical area through a telephone line, fiber optic cable, or satellite links. The internet is one of the biggest WANs in the world. A Wide Area Network is widely used in the field of Business, government, and education.
